It may be hard to believe, but there is another election right around the corner, on Tuesday, June 8th. The election is a primary election for U.S. House of Representatives, County Sheriff, and your local Democratic and Republican Committeepersons.
I am writing to urge you to vote for your local committee candidates listed in Column B of the ballot, as well as Congressman Albio Sires for Congress and Frank Schillari for Sheriff.
What does a committeeperson do? I have been asked this question often. A committeeperson is your local neighborhood representative. There are two committeepersons in your district. They ideally should identify matters of concern to your local neighborhood and work with your ward councilperson to address these issues. Additionally, committeepersons are voting members of the Hoboken Democratic Party and the Hudson County Democratic Committee. In this regard, they have the ability to influence party leadership and the priorities of the local party.
Mayor Dawn Zimmer and many others have worked hard to assemble a slate of candidates for Democratic Committee listed in Column B of your ballot. Over the last year we have made significant progress in advancing much needed reforms in Hoboken. This election is an important part of that effort. We want to bring good and well intentioned citizens to elective office and provide them a chance to serve at the local level, and make a difference in their communuties.
Please help us achieve this goal. Remember to vote Column B on Tuesday, June 8th. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
