Early reception for Pier C - It's a hit

Although we're not sure about farm animals, some varmints are able to scoot their way onto Pier C.  The Wiley Coyote stole a look with the afternoon partial opening and saw the Hoboken people were already out and about.  (Click any photo to enlarge.)

It's....uh park - Park C partially opens

City of Hoboken announces:


The City of Hoboken is partially opening Pier C park to the public. The promenade and lawn areas will be open, while the playground areas in the middle, which are not complete, are closed off with fencing.

“I welcome everyone to come out and enjoy our newest park,” said Mayor Dawn Zimmer. “The park’s nighttime lighting is impressive, and we invite residents to take an evening stroll.”

The City received approval for the partial opening from state inspectors and the City’s insurance company. The park will be open daily from 8 am to 10 pm.

Bicycle - Bicycle, I want to ride my bicycle, I want to ride my bike

Hey all,

Just wanted to let you know Bike Hoboken is planning another bike ride this weekend. We had a great turnout for the first ride, and members have been clamoring for another one ever since. We figured as Saturday's weather should be nice, we may as well capitalize on what could be one of the last days suitable for a casual group ride.

Where: We will meet again at the war memorial at the base of Pier A and 1st Street.
When: 12 o'clock Noon on Saturday November 13th.

United Water update: work expected completed by end of day


Water Tankers Located On 13th And Washington

Harrington Park, NJ, Nov 12, 2010, 9:00 am

United Water emergency crews are working to repair a broken 12-inch water main on Washington Avenue in Hoboken.

Customers in the vicinity of Washington between 12th and 14th streets may have no water, low water pressure or discolored water. Residents can obtain drinking water from a water tanker located on Washington between 12th and 13th streets. They should bring containers.
United Water is replacing a ten foot section of pipe. Work is expected to be completed by this evening.

UPDATE: 11:45 - Water service has been restored.

City: Uptown water update and water assistance


A water main break has occurred near 12th and Washington Street. United Water is making repairs, however residents onWashington Street between 12th Street and 14th Street may be without water service today.

A water buffalo truck has been ordered and is located at 12th Street and Washington Street to provide drinkable water. Residents may bring their own container to the truck to collect water. Any resident needing assistance with getting water may call 201-420-2000 and a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteer member will come to their home to assist them.

Mayor Dawn Zimmer thanks United Water, the Hoboken Police Department, the Office of Emergency Management, and Environmental Services for their cooperation and quick response.

Water out on upper Washington St. due to leak

City of Hoboken announces:
UPDATE: A leak in front of 1201 Washington St. is believed to be a water main. Residents on Washington St. between 12th and 14th Streets may be without water. United Water is on the scene making repairs. A water buffalo truck has been ordered and is at 12th and Washington Street to provide water to negate service interruption to residents. Residents needing water may bring a container to the water truck. Police are on the scene to direct traffic. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
