City opening two parks: Jefferson Street Park today and Legion Park later this week

City of Hoboken announces:

JEFFERSON STREET PARK TO RE-OPEN WITH NEW PLAY EQUIPMENT

Jefferson Street Park, located adjacent to the Boys & Girls Club at 123 Jefferson Street, will re-open Monday afternoon with new play equipment and safety surface. All members of the community are invited to attend a ribbon cutting and enjoy the re-opened park at 4pm.

The work completed at Jefferson Street Park is part of a city-wide playground improvement initiative. Jackson Street Park (120 Jackson St.) re-opened last week, and Legion Park (1225 Willow Ave.) will also re-open this week.

A duck on the Hoboken-Weehawken border yesterday contemplates visiting Jefferson Street and Legion Park.  Both will be opening this week joining Jackson Street Park which opened last week.  The efforts are part of Mayor Dawn Zimmer's plans to make 2012 - the Year of Parks.
