UPDATE ON HOBOKEN PREPARATIONS FOR HURRICANE SANDY
Governor Christie has declared a state of emergency for all of New Jersey. Residents are strongly urged to prepare for the storm.
Information related to Hurricane Sandy and other important relevant resources are available on the City website atwww.hobokennj.org/sandy.
Volunteers from the City's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), Housing Authority, Stevens Institute of Technology, and other community members are knocking on neighbor's doors to urge them to prepare. Those interested in volunteering can do so by going to 221 Jackson Street. An additional volunteer information session will take place at 11am on Sunday at City Hall. Volunteers will receive information about helping in a shelter, staffing a call center, or assisting with an evacuation, if necessary.
The City is providing a free shuttle bus to the ShopRite that will run on Saturday (1pm-5pm) and Sunday (9am-1pm). The route stops near most senior buildings and will loop approximately every 40 minutes. Call 201-293-8945 for the current location of the Blue Hop. NJ TRANSIT will offer full system-wide cross-honoring starting at 12:01 a.m. on Monday, October 29 and continuing through 6 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, enabling NJ TRANSIT customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode—rail, bus or light rail.
