Assemblyman Ruben Ramos brushes off 'circus' competitors as "sideshow"
In an interview with Hudson County TV at the 1600 Park kickoff, Assemblyman Ruben Ramos declared the race for mayor between himself and Mayor Dawn Zimmer calling the new slate underwritten by Frank "Pupie" Raia "a sideshow."
Ramos continued to attack the Raia slate slamming mayoral candidate Tim Occhipinti as less than independent and all but calling him a tool of a developer. Raia is a long time developer in Hoboken and in New Jersey.
In another interview, Tim Occhipinti told HCTV the Raia slate had filed its petitions and as MSV predicted the ticket includes BoE trustee Peter Biancamano and newcomer Britney Montgomery who is a NYC schoolteacher and neighbor of Timmy.
Occhipinti noted some issues will be on the Raia platform: flooding, infrastructure which also happen to be mentioned on the Ramos campaign platform.
Who will offer the better plan?
Hopefully the two campaigns can offer some differentiating details. As it stands, the real question is who is the clown in the circus and who is the main contender to Mayor Zimmer who will be running on her record and that of council members: Ravi Bhalla, Dave Mello and Jim Doyle, a man on a mission unfinished.
Talking Ed Note: Frank "Pupie" Raia must be asking himself, "What did you call me?" You called me a sideshow... like a clown. I amuse you. What's so funny about me?"
And off we go!
