Flash mob @ City Council tonight @ 7:00?

Part I:

Video streaming by Ustream

Tonight's City Council meeting is the finale before the November 5th mayoral and council at-large election.  Meaning there will be some hard objects and harsh words flying around.

There's also a last desperate bid on tap to attack the mayor by a rabid group of directed Carmelitos rumored to be in the offing.

You may have heard about the coordinated political attacks orchestrated by Councilwoman Beth Mason and her Old Guard political operatives coordinated with local media - what MSV has previously deemed the Mason Media Complex.  All this noise is a mere web of lies wrapped around smoke with not a dime benefitting either Councilman Ravi Bhalla who is up for election in November or his new employer Florio Perrucci.  (The firm is not pursuing any new work with the City of Hoboken and has none ongoing whatsoever.)

There has been lots of buying and actual selling in Hoboken but not solely for legal goods and services. There's offices such as the former Hoboken municipal prosecutor and "journalists" who put themselves on the market and/or put their wares up for sale to the highest bedder, bidder.  Questions of when monies were cashed, under what circumstances is a murky swamp these hooves don't swim in. Yet.

It's not that they so readily sell out this community; it's they are so willing to do so... so cheaply.

The relentless fabrications what Beth Mason herself incorrectly calls defamation against Councilman Ravi Bhalla are disgraceful but the attacks on Corporation Counsel Mellisa Longo by the Masonista sponsored Hoboken411 are a new low.

Hey, that's how Beth Mason rolls. She's been doing this to people directly and indirectly by her paid surrogates for years.  (See bludiamonds.)  Rather then turning a blind eye, Da Horsey locked in on this game back in 2009  in a Horse Sense editorial.

The media cover is a "he said, she said," blind eye form of non-journalism. It allows the monied and unprincipled to "get out their message" and do personal, political if not professional harm to others.  All an editor needs to do is deem it newsworthy.

Of course utterly discredited fascist vehicles such as Hoboken411 don't even have an editor to pull that trigger.  It's a mercenary owner taking ghostwritten defamation against the "enemy of the day" and pumping out the lies to an unsuspecting public one after another. Note in the email Beth Mason sent to the Council President she includes Hoboken411 as one of her media approved news outlets.

As bludiamonds confessed, the Masonistas defamed everyone for years and proclaim it "transparency."
No one until MSV arrived even thought it was a story. Now when voices elevate online their thing is to proclaim their victimization.  You've never seen so much crying about a little sunlight arriving when they're whimpering "lies, falsehood, propaganda" and yes "defamation."

It's all about who's selling out and who is cutting the checks. There's always a short line of new fresh scrubbed faces willing to sell this town out for a song.  As one commenter described them, they're nothing but the newest group of patsies.

On November 5th, it's up to you to act accordingly.

For those interested in policy, here's tonight's agenda.

Grist for the Mill: Carmelitos plan ambush on planning group award to Mayor Zimmer tonight

Coming on the heels of the award to Mayor Zimmer in New York City as "Hero of the Harbor," for her "extraordinary leadership and courage" managing post Hurricane Sandy another award scheduled to be presented tonight in the City Council meeting by the American Planning Association is set to be ambushed.

This award scheduled to be made to Mayor Zimmer in the last City Council meeting before the November 5th municipal election will be attacked by a band of Carmelitos according to reliable sources.

The Carmelitos, a small group of Hoboken Housing Authority residents are the spokespeople/acolytes prompted behind the scenes by Executive Director Carmelo Garcia and his controlled HHA "tenant" groups. Of course, to a person they are proponents of the Vision 20/20 plan Garcia who they believe will see all the existing projects torn down with the Carmelitos first and foremost moved into brand new public housing.

Among the problems with the controversial Vision 20/20 bill of goods in a months long bad sell job: there's no (Master) plan. Worse for HHA residents, there's no Federally backed "HHA Bill of Rights" other than a citation of same from a non-binding years old marketing brochure.

Then there's the civil lawsuit Garcia launched against the City naming the mayor, her husband and an HHA commissioner as being behind "ethnic cleansing" for not surrendering in approving a blank check for his "plan."

Secret recordings are not enough? A protest by a band of Carmelitos against Mayor Zimmer receiving an award
from the American Planning Association is set for tonight.  Smell a rat?

In recent weeks, at least one Carmelito who repeatedly screamed at public meeting microphones for Vision 20/20 saw a move from downtown to a large, spacious uptown HHA controlled apartment making some of her neighbors envious with her special treatment.  It's been part of the rewards and punishments made clear to those in the HHA who are accustomed to such blatant abuses of power.

It's been made clear to Jessica Coco based on her account.  After her suspected opposition to Vision 20/20, she reported a series of criminal acts against her including vandalism, break-ins, burglary, computer hacking and death threats at the last council meeting.  She was immediately beset upon by a HHA "tenant representative" who sprang into attack calling all the incidents part of Coco's "fantasy land," followed with a blanket denial by Garcia himself who said none of the events occurred.

MSV followed with an exclusive confirming some of Coco's account.

Enter the Carmelitos for one last desperate, loud, ugly scene at tonight's City Council meeting.
Thank you very much Mr. Carmelo!

Grist for the Mill is MSV's rumor column. Got a tasty carrot for Da Horsey. Send it to smartyones@me.com.

The return of bludiamonds, Counte$$, her racism and "b.s."

The following email was sent yesterday by Councilwoman Beth Mason to Council President Peter Cunningham and numerous local media sources.

A guest piece from bludiamonds with an intimate relationship not as a political operative with the Mason Media Complex obtained the email from an uptown based media friend and issued this guest piece announcing its resignation over the sordid Old Guard "Raavee Affair."

The below email is true and original minus one city employee change:

Subject: Re: FW: Revised Resolution
Dear Council President,
I am in receipt of your Memorandum.  It is unfortunate for the city you have not learned the meaning of defamation.   Defamation is a false communication.  Nothing included in the resolution was false. The resolution was accompanied by 35 pages of documentation to support the claims made in the resolution to reduce the possibility for you to discredit its viability and cover up further misuse of taxpayer funds.
For an example of defamation, you can visit the blogs of the two individuals, who serve as the propaganda arm for you and the Zimmer Administration.  These individuals are being sued for $2 million.  One of which you paid to serve as the web administrator to your website.
I appreciate your effort to disclose these activities and I am sure you will agree that this should be available to the press.
Respectfully,
Councilwoman Beth Mason

The nutty fruit, bludiamonds issued the following reply/resignation:

Dear Counte$$:

I hereby tender my resignation as your loyal minion.

We’ve had some good times, it’s true. I can’t say I haven’t enjoyed years of offering you my friendship. For which you have, of course, never paid me one penny. Sure, I have always held out hope that I may help you rise to higher office. Upon which of course I would never have sought any sworn position. And we’ve had plenty of fun along the way. The purple pillows, the 411 character assassination – remember when we accused Cunningham of profiteering through his muni-bond business? – the barrels of laughs with those e-mails, and how about that time you reordered the public-speakers list as council president so I could have the last word? It’s been a true adventure, dearest Counte$$, to say the least.

Speaking of Cunningham, remember that time we ensnared him in the trumped-up Condon scandal you’re still clubbing Bhalla over the head with, and you attacked Peter’s empty chair at the council meeting while he was away attending his mother-in-law’s funeral? That was AWESOME! That was dirty pool I can get behind.

Remember when we had to discredit your former legislative aide, the evil traitor Ann Holtzman, and slimed her with allegations of doling out political favors from the Zoning Office? CLASSIC! What some call defamation, we call transparency! After all, if you’re not in it to win it, what’s the point? Trying to destroy Corporation Counsel Mellissa Longo’s professional reputation because she won’t bend to your will? You go, girl! You are, after all, the one, true Counte$$.

All that said, I’m afraid I must hang up my dapper douchebaggery for the last time and bid thee farewell. To be perfectly Frank, (with no pun intended to your new partner in crime) I think I’ve proven to be pretty much the antithesis of squeamish when it comes to political operative bottom feeding. I don’t think there’s any low point the bar can sink to that I can’t limbo under. Except racism.

Counte$$, I cannot condone racism. Sure, I play a little race-BAITING here and there, like when I drop the reference to people with “vowels at the end of their name.” And anti-Semitism is fair game. After all, Mayor Stan does, in fact, deal in blood diamonds, and I truly believe he was warned off dealing with Solomon Dwek by his “professional network.” Otherwise, he would have been cell mates with the Hon. Mayor Peter Cammarano, who was not so fortunate as to have “ethnic ties” to the FBI informant. And by the way, if Dawn Zimmer didn’t kill the messiah, can you tell me who did? Yeah, didn’t think so.

But this stuff you’re doing with Ravi Bhalla is a little different, as far as racial politics goes. Let’s be honest, this is real, actual, bona fide racism. Counte$$, I never signed up for that, and that’s where even I, Dr. Douche himself, your loyal lackey, must draw the line.

Before I go any further, let me be clear about one thing – I DESPISE Ravi Bhalla. Just as I despise Dawn Zimmer, David Mello, Peter Cunningham, Carol Marsh, as well as, it goes without saying, my arch-nemesis LENZLENZLENZ, and the whole happy little hypocrite family of “reformers” who are really just Zimmerists sellouts trying to take this town away from the REAL people of Hoboken – in other words, people with whom I might have the potential for future leverage, if you get my meaning.

Ravi is one of the villains in my narrative, and as such, I am more than a little displeased that you, dearest Counte$$, have placed me in a position in which I have no choice but to defend my sworn enemy. But so ‘tis. Going after “Dual Job Dawn” is a perfectly legitimate negative-campaign strategy, as is all your "stuff" we've strewn against your enemies real or imagined - we just dared anyone to imagine opposing you! Even attacking the Zimmer council slate as a bunch of braindead rubberstamps is something I masterminded eagerly. But to single out just one of them – look, I get it, the angle you see is to pick off a council seat and get your purple pillow back in that president’s chair. But why not go with a truly vulnerable candidate, like Doyle, who lacks the advantage of incumbency?

But no, you’ve got to go full throttle after Ravi, characterizing him as a money grubbing outlander who’s here to “take our stuff” but isn’t really “one of us.” I mean, it’s just a little too glaringly obvious. A little too loud of a dog whistle singing “let’s whip people up against the guy with the turban, we can’t trust him!” Well, he’s darker than most of us and who knows, he might be a terrorist.

In short, it’s a little too racist.

I know, I know, it’s not all you. Perry, Jimmy and Ruben have done plenty to fan the racial flames against Ravi this election cycle, too. But let’s face it, they’re hoodlums. That kind of crap is what they know, it’s who they are. I thought you were better. I thought you had a touch of class beneath your rough edges. I thought, beneath that cross around your neck beats a heart of… well, aluminum, at least?

Well, I was mistaken but as you know never wrong. And now, dearest Counte$$, I bid you farewell, as I go off to find some new master to serve in my quest for importance in this town of ours. A master who does not condone racism, that is.

By your own definition as it pertains to your racist resolution, “Defamation is false communication.” And I couldn’t agree more! False communication as a means to slay our enemies is what we’ve always done best, you and I. But this Bhalla stuff… this goes beyond false communication to the kind of rhetoric designed to foment hate crime. At a time when Sikh Americans are still being assaulted by angry mobs out of ignorance and xenophobia, even I, the Dapper Douche, cannot be party to such an obvious attempt to whip up the worst in an uninformed public. I hope someday you can understand.

As per our agreement, I will not be billing you one penny for my friendship. For everything else, however, the due date will be at the bottom of the invoice, as usual.

All the best to you, dearest Counte$$.

With nothing but the fondest, softest purple memories,

bludiamonds

Talking Ed Note: At the last City Council meeting, an ordinance on the agenda for months to accept a $2.7 million gift for repairs to Pier A finally was finally up for a vote.  Councilwoman Jen Giattino making closing remarks is interrupted by Beth Mason who mutters "bullshit."

The ordinance passed easily with Beth Mason abstaining.

Hoboken Fair Housing Association Supports the Rent Control Amendment Proposed by Councilpersons Giattino and Bhalla

HFHA announces:

Hoboken Fair Housing Association (HFHA) supports the ordinance on the city council agenda tonight that is an amendment to Chapter 155, rent control, of the Hoboken Municipal Code.  The proposed ordinance deals with condo rentals and is sponsored by Councilwoman Giattino and seconded by Councilman Bhalla.

The proposed ordinance replaces a regulation that was recently declared ultra vires (beyond the scope of the rent leveling board) in the court system.  It allows owner-occupiers of condos that live in their units for a minimum of two years, and subsequently choose to offer their unit for rent, a full vacancy decontrol for the initial rental.  This addresses the needs of non-investor owner-occupiers of condos in Hoboken by eliminating the need to apply for a hardship increase.

Condos were created as a way for people unable to afford a single family home the opportunity to enjoy property ownership.   The proposal protects such owner-occupiers that, after a period of time, choose to rent out their units while simultaneously protecting other owner-occupiers from extensive investment purchases that could turn condo buildings into de facto rental properties thereby making it problematic for future purchasers to obtain a mortgage on condos offered for sale.

Councilwoman Giattino consulted with both landlords and tenants when crafting the ordinance with Councilman Bhalla.  The strength and fairness of this proposed ordinance proves that the Council and residents can work together to craft legislation that is fair to all renters and owners.  Unlike the dangerous ballot question (Hoboken Public Question #1) supported by the developer/real estate interests group Mile Square Taxpayers Association which will appear on the November 5th ballot, the proposed ordinance represents a fair way to address the needs of all Hoboken residents, renters and owners alike, and clearly demonstrates how the legislative process can address such matters without harming the community.  HFHA thanks Councilwoman Giattino and Councilman Bhalla for their efforts on behalf of all Hoboken residents.
