Freeholder candidate Phil Cohen announces:
COUNCIL PRESIDENT LAVARRO JOINS HOBOKEN MAYOR ZIMMER, JERSEY CITY MAYOR FULOP AND HUDSON COUNTY DEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATION CHAIRMAN PRIETO IN ENDORSING COHEN
Today Jersey City Councilman-At-Large and Council President Rolando R. Lavarro Jr. announced he is endorsing Phil Cohen as the candidate for Freeholder to represent the Fifth District of Hudson County.
A Commissioner on the Hoboken Zoning Board of Adjustment and a 28 year Hoboken resident, Phil Cohen has a long history of active involvement in local civic affairs. Cohen has served as a Vice Chair of the Hoboken Democratic Party and a member of the Hoboken Planning Board. He is a Member of the Board of Trustees of the United Synagogue of Hoboken, the past Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Stevens Cooperative School, and is a recipient of the Corporate Leadership Award from the Women's Housing and Economic Development Corporation.
"Phil Cohen is a strong candidate to represent Jersey City and the Fifth District," said Council President Rolando Lavarro. "I am proud to join Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer and HCDO Chairman Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto in endorsing Phil and his Freeholder campaign for the June 3 primary."
Phil Cohen said, "It is an honor to be running in the Democratic Primary election with the support of the Hudson County Democratic Party and to appear on the Democratic line with Senator Cory Booker and Congressman Albio Sires."
Phil Cohen said, "I am gratified to receive the endorsement of Council President Lavarro." He added, "I am enjoying meeting the residents of Jersey City and Hoboken and listening to them describe the issues most important to them."
Hudson County’s 5th Freeholder District includes all of Hoboken and a portion of Jersey City.
