Breaking: Chris Campos' wife and brother snagged in federal arrests in alleged car loan scheme

MILE SQUARE VIEW EXCLUSIVE

More than one member of Chris Campos's family reportedly saw arrest as part of a federal investigation into bank and wire fraud based out of Manhattan's US Attorney's Office earlier this month.

Based on individual sources, former fourth ward City Councilman Chris Campos along with his wife and one brother were also arrested in a car loan scheme alleging bank and wire fraud back on March 9th.

Chris Campos was not available in a call earlier and the Department of Justice in Manhattan's Southern District was not immediately available for comment.

The car scheme as outlined by the Southern District of New York's US Attorney Preet Bharara and the FBI alleged the announced defendants took out loans under false pretenses purchasing more than 200 vehicles involving at least 20 straw buyers.

Carmelo Garcia, the former NJ Assemblyman who put Campos in as his Chief of Staff at a reported $40,000 per year has remained mum with media since the announcement of his close friend's arrest earlier this month.

An earlier invitation to Garcia here for an interview has been met with silence. Other reports of pending interviews with the former controversial head of the Hoboken Housing Authority have similarly been stymied.

The Feds in a public release on March 9th announced if you believe you were a victim of this crime and entitled to restitution and wish to provide information to law enforcement and/or receive notice of future developments in the case or additional information contact the Victim/Witness Unit at the United States Attorney's Office at (866) 874-8900.

Talking Ed Note: Last week, Grafix Avenger referenced "calling cards" by the FBI and DOJ to that website. MSV notes it has received at least double the "calling card" visits here.

Perhaps Grafix Avenger isn't so much the popular girl and the Feds like horses in Hoboken too.
(For those slow on the draw, this is some levity and humor on a serious ongoing story.)
