Re: Important Updates - BASF Acquisition and Community Meeting, & Demo Ordinance
Two very important developments over the last 24 hours.
As part of the multi-step process to make the Demolition ordinance law, last night the Planning Board reviewed the Ordinance without further recommendation. This is a significant step in preserving Hoboken's building stock that continues to be threatened.
Next and final step will be final reading and public hearing at the next city council meeting October 18th. Your support will be greatly appreciated!
This evening was monumental as we passed a series of Ordinances in support of the City's acquisition of BASF. This 6.1 contiguous acres of open space in NW Hoboken will be our, the largest park - perhaps ever. Extraordinary professional support, phenomenal financing terms, the City's Open Space Trust Fund, strong never wavering support from our community has truly made this deal happen for generations to come. Again, this is a multi-step process, and final reading and public hearing should be at the next council meeting.
Tomorrow night, there's a public hearing mandated by the State at the Multi Service Center at 2nd and Grand from 6 - 8pm. If you can join us, it would be important to appear to express your support for this acquisition.
Please circulate this note around to your neighbors, and hope to see you tomorrow night at the Multi Service Center.
