Competing campaign source: 'Jen Giattino surging in last two weeks'

Newest polling revelation confirms motivations for the vicious attacks on Jen Giattino

This just in on Saturday afternoon as the hot and now often ugly Hoboken mayoral race approaches election day on Tuesday.

A competing campaign source was overheard saying, "Jen Giattino is surging" in the last two weeks in its campaign polling. The information comes from a source of high reliability.

City Council President and mayoral candidate Jen Giattino with Hoboken
Zoning Chair and council candidate Jim Aibel: feeling the poll surge on the streets.

The admission explains the ugly attacks popping up on multiple fronts against the popular City Council President. She's been the target of highly hyper partisan mailers from the Bhalla campaign and some rather nebulous assertions by Mayor Dawn Zimmer.

Apparently, none of the negative hit jobs are an accident.

Sources within Team Giattino admit the campaign is feeling it out on the streets. Their candidate, considered the best among the four majors is buoyed by the reception she's receiving from people all across Hoboken.

The warm reception and admission with even volunteer support from Old Hoboken, newcomers, seniors and everyone in-between shows the success of a campaign candidate with certified cross-over appeal.

It also explains the ugly sexist attacks being piled on by the denizens of Sybil's Cave, fanatical backers of the Bhalla campaign who will do and say just about anything to stop the Giattino surge. The lies there are coming fast and furious with the latest propaganda trying to distort votes for Giattino as helpful to others (but of course not Ravi Bhalla).

In recent days, they've been spreading more venom calling Jen Giattino's earlier Wall St. career a lie.

The election scheduled for Tuesday is expected to be contentious with an ugly midnight flyer adapted from a DeFusco mailer calling Ravi Bhalla a terrorist. The community response has been strong and universal condemning the flyer from all corners.

Talking Ed Note: Of some interest, one defender of Mike DeFusco on Facebook today is former Hoboken councilman Chris Campos. The former resident is facing sentencing for fraud after a federal trial earlier this year.

Campos rightfully called the flyer hit on Bhalla "horrible." He offered additional comments defending Mike DeFusco saying "I cannot believe Mike would do this... Just not his style." He also added, "There was another piece that came out that reeked of old Hoboken political trickery" a reference to recent mailers attacking Defusco by the Bhalla loving Super PAC, Stronger Together.

Campos posted the defense by Mike DeFusco on his behalf and found some resistance. (See left) In another comment on the same Facebook thread, he wrote, "it was NOT DEFUSCO!"

Recently, MSV made reference to Campos being part of a group backing Mike DeFusco for mayor and was called a liar by a Bhalla campaign zombie. The zombie took a hoof across the chin in the exchange and hasn't shown his lying mug here since.

Remind this Horse if there's a zombie sighting ahead to quickly put a hoof up its ass. Because a zombie is dumb and dense and can use a remedy for the stupid. How's that backroom deal looking now?

Dawn Zimmer: 'PAC donations are violation of Hoboken pay-to-play laws'

The new Mayor Dawn Zimmer:

The 2009 chapter of the old Reform Mayor Dawn Zimmer

“But after Hoboken passed an anti-pay-to-play law in 2007, as a redevelopment firm, Tarragon/URSA is forbidden from donating directly to individual candidates. Many see the PAC donations as a way to circumvent pay-to-play restrictions. In light of these new revelations, Zimmer said today she is asking city attorneys to look into whether Tarragon/URSA violated pay-to-play law.” - story

Now it's Mayor Dawn Zimmer in 2017 throwing-in to get Ravi Bhalla mayor. She likely knows all about the massive union of operating engineers backing PAC monies in Hoboken and its deep connections to NJ Transit's proposed billion dollar towers and massive redevelopment objectives in downtown.

NJ Transit wants a 70 story commercial tower surrounded by 42 story towers in downtown Hoboken. Now it's a Zimmer surrogate in Ravi Bhalla who is benefitting from these mega development players.

The union's PAC, Stronger Together is spending over $50,000 to see Ravi Bhalla elected. Local 825 can smell the maximum buildout so much they can taste it. That kind of investment using an outside PAC in Hoboken is not incidental nor coincidental. It comes with high expectations.

Talking Ed Note: Earlier this morning MSV asked for comment from both Mayor Zimmer and the Bhalla campaign on the stunning reversal about outside PAC monies flooding Hoboken.

In 2009, Mayor Zimmer was so adamantly opposed to it, she sought City attorneys to investigate it as a violation of "pay to play" laws.

Now a festering wound is open with the NJ engineer union flooding the zone spending tens of thousands of dollars on behalf of Ravi Bhalla's campaign on cable TV ads seen in heavy rotation and two separate mailers costing over $50,0000.

When it was done against mayoral candidate Dawn Zimmer, she didn't hesitate coming out against it. That was then, this is now. #TheSilence

Sexist Assault on Jen Giattino by the Bonkers for Bhalla Brigade continues

The online campaign by the Bonkers for Bhalla Brigade continue their sexist assault on Jen Giattino's professional career on Wall St.

MSV confirmed with her campaign the details of Jen Giattino being a Goldman Sachs broker and specialist for over a decade. The facts don't matter as the Sybil Cave dwellers mock her making derogatory comments about a woman's professional life and all but calling her a liar. (MSV won't go to that Sybil's Cave sewer; it's rank and the home of the deranged.)

Apparently, even an actual NY newspaper photo seen earlier on Facebook showing a tumultuous day on the New York Stock Exchange with a clearly visible Jen Giattino in the mosh pit of traders wasn't sufficient evidence. After two years inactive, a broker's license is invalid. This the loons say is evidence Giattino's Wall St. career didn't happen. The cave dweller rabble are continuing their sexist attacks led by the head loon there and elsewhere.

They also are 100% ok with the $50,000 PAC money invasion in Hoboken now.

Actual Goldman Sachs badge issued only to employees who are brokers and specialists.
The deranged at Sybil's Cave continue their sexist assault on Jen Giattino's
professional career to demean and smear her.
They hope to derail her surging campaign that has sent the Bhalla campaign spiraling
into negative attacks.

The PAC MAN cometh!

Did the PAC MAN cometh to Hoboken or rather did it come for Hoboken?

Whether tis nobler to suffer the slings and arrows of foreign monies invading the Mile Square City backed by outrageous hypocritical politicians or to stand with the Reform Resistance against a sea of PAC money, and thus by opposing, end them?

That is the question.

For those who lack the historical knowledge of what the true flavor of Reform stood, not the new and improved pay-to-play NJ Transit Cheatos variety mind you, read on.

There was one candidate in 2009 who did and voiced concern about the PAC monies being a true pay-to-play threat.

Her name? Dawn Zimmer.

From the August 19, 2009 story:
Unions and Hoboken developer behind political attack fliers

A local developer and statewide labor unions with ties to Peter Cammarano were exposed this week as financing anonymous political attack fliers during the Hoboken mayor's race this past spring.
The attack fliers maligned Dawn Zimmer, campaigning in a close race against Cammarano and Beth Mason for Hoboken's top spot. They were sent out by a pair of political action committees (PACs) -- Citizens for the Future and the Building America Committee. IRS filings released late last month show that Hoboken developer Tarragon/URSA and New Jersey unions contributed nearly $175,000 to the two PACs.
In the Hoboken mayor's race, Zimmer was widely considered to be more critical of redevelopment plans, while Cammarano was viewed more favorably by developers looking to cash in on Hoboken real estate. On July 23, Cammarano was arrested for allegedly taking cash bribes from a developer.
Talking Ed Note: What changed for Mayor Zimmer and Councilman Ravi Bhalla? Oh, now the establishment power is fine with using PACs of union underwriting from outside Hoboken to advance entrenched establishment power. Wasn't it enough to betray and destroy Reform in one back room deal?

Why the cynical divisiveness torching the Big Tent of Reform? Ok, there's a good excuse here. You whacked Reform in the head and put it in a coma. Some are going to try and rescue. #ReformResistance

Comment was asked from both Mayor Zimmer and Ravi Bhalla how this meets good governance standards in Hoboken. The Mile Square City is seeing some rather long distancing from its Reform heyday where this was construed by Mayor Dawn Zimmer in 2009 as pay-to-play.

Romano campaign: 'Appalled by offensive racist flyer'

Official release:

We are appalled by the flyer that was distributed last night regarding Ravi Bhalla. The accusation of terrorism is not something that should be taken lightly; it is offensive to all of us. Those who assume a Sikh, a Muslim or a middle eastern person equates to terrorism are acting in a fearful and racist manner.  Racism has no place in Hoboken and we must stand together against this.

Mike DeFusco: 'Political stunts like this wrong, horrified to see it in Hoboken'

Official release - per Mike DeFusco's campaign page.

A disgusting, racist flier was found on car windshields tonight that altered one of my campaign's mailers and added a racial epithet aimed at Ravi Bhalla. I condemn this piece of racist garbage in the strongest possible terms. Hoboken is far better than this and whoever made this flier is not only insulting one of my opponents in a despicable way, they are also painting me as a racist, which as the only openly gay elected official in Hudson County and a progressive Democrat simply could not be further from the truth.

I called Councilman Bhalla tonight to assure him that although we disagree on many issues, we can stand united against this kind of racism infecting our city. I’ve also submitted a copy of this flier to the Hoboken Police Department and will be sending it to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office to demand an investigation to determine who is intentionally misrepresenting my campaign. This injustice will not stand and we will do everything possible to get to the bottom of it.

Political stunts like this are everything that’s wrong with politics today and I’m horrified to see this happening in Hoboken.

Update: Mike DeFusco spoke out in a video earlier today:

City Council President and Mayoral Candidate Jen Giattino Denounces Recent Racial Attack in Hoboken Mayoral Election

Official Release:
Council President Jen Giattino’s response to the racially charged campaign flyer that was circulated throughout Hoboken yesterday.
“Last night a campaign flyer was left on windshields of cars throughout Hoboken. It contained an accusation against one of the mayoral candidates that was racially charged and just wrong.  This reprehensible act is completely unacceptable.  There is no room for this kind of hateful and cowardly act in our election. We may differ in many of our views in this election, but I know that we all agree that this type of tactic has no place in our society.”

Statement of Ravi Bhalla on Attack Flyer

Official release:

Last night a flyer with the word "terrorist" above a picture of me appeared on car windshields in Hoboken.

Of course, this is troubling, but I want to be clear: We won't let hate win in Hoboken. I want people to know that Hoboken is a welcoming community where my wife and I are proud to raise our two young children. No matter your religion, race, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, you are welcome here in our City. And as Mayor, I will work hard to make sure we keep it that way.

I want to use this incident as an opportunity to affirm to each other and our children the value of living in a diverse community where we are judged by the content of our character-- not by the color of our skin or how we worship. At this time in our nation’s history when we have a President who seeks to divide us, it is critical that we come together as a community and stand up for American values.”

Councilman Bhalla is a candidate for mayor of Hoboken.

Talking Ed Note: MSV is not dignifying this by publishing a photo of the scattered flyer. It's an earlier DeFusco campaign mailer that has been taken and changed adding the word terrorist atop. The DeFusco campaign asserts no involvement. Absolutely anyone could be responsible and that means individual not a campaign. That individual(s) involved is in fact not worthy of seeing their racist garbage elevated. MSV previously deleted and blocked one racist commenter. It won't be tolerated against Ravi Bhalla or anyone.
