Poll Shocker: NJ Senate seat up for grabs as Bob Hugin pulls into dead heat with Bob Menendez

The NJ Senate race featuring upstart businessman Bob Hugin is a dead heat with US Senator Bob Menendez according to the most recent statewide poll of likely voters released yesterday by Stockton University.

The poll indicates Bob Menendez's double-digit lead has all but evaporated and is well within the margin of error. Menendez comes in at 45% and Hugin registers 43% with fully 8% undecided or aligning with minor candidates.

From the article:

Hugin is viewed favorably by 34 percent and unfavorably by 21 percent, although 43 percent are not familiar with him. Only 10 percent are unfamiliar with Menendez.
The Stockton Polling Institute of the William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy at Stockton University interviewed 531 adult New Jersey residents who were screened as likely voters. Live interviewers working from the Stockton campus called landline and cell telephones Sept. 19-27. 2018. The poll’s margin of error is +/- 4.25 percentage points.
“With a two-point lead falling within the poll’s margin of error, the Senate race at this point is up for grabs,” said Michael W. Klein, interim executive director of the Hughes Center.
Bob Hugin (l) seen here last week posing with Union City voters is now in a dead heat with incumbent US Senator
Bob Menendez. Corruption appears to have dogged Menendez who saw his friend slammed with a 17 year prison sentence for a massive Medicare ripoff of over $70 million. Menendez who in turn allegedly profited with a million dollar kickback escaped conviction and prison himself with a hung jury. Have Soprano State voters had enough?
